Pay for certain healthcare expenses with pre-tax dollars. You can spend a large amount all at once - for example, for major dental work or laser vision correction - or spread it out during the year.
Benefit
Reimburse yourself with pre-tax dollars for up to $3,500 annually (with a minimum of $100) for eligible out-of-pocket expenses not reimbursed under any healthcare plans. back to top
Eligible expenses
- Prescriptions for almost any medical condition
- Copayments for coinsurance and deductibles for medical, dental and vision benefits (but not premiums for these benefits)
- Eligible expenses over plan limits
- Dental care, both preventive and restorative
- Orthodontia, both for children and for adults
- Vision care, eyeglasses, contact lenses and saline solution

The total amount you set aside in a Health Care Spending Account for the year is available to you on the first day of the plan, regardless of how much you have contributed to your account at that point. This means you don't have to wait to order new glasses or pay for your prescriptions. back to top
Payments and reimbursements
Your Health Care Spending Account is built for maximum convenience when making payments to your providers. When you are enrolled, you will receive a WageWorks Health Care Card, which gives you instant, on-the-spot access to your Health Care Spending Account. When you pay for an eligible item or service, you can use the WageWorks Health Care Card just like a debit card. You don't need to enter a PIN; just select "credit" at the register.
