Compass Group associates help fight hunger in their local communities through the annual Sort by the Tunes. Associates come together at their local food banks to sort food donations while grooving to uplifting music.
One hour of donated time provides a food bank with nearly $20 of labor savings per person volunteering.
In 2011, more than 371,200 pounds of food were sorted in 35 cities. 835 associates provided $54,300 in labor savings.

Chartwells Higher Education, Joplin, MO, arrived on the scene to aid in tornado relief efforts. The team delivered a truck full of water and supplies for The American Red Cross.
Wolfgang Puck Catering, Los Angeles, CA, sponsored a benefit for the Clermont Center for Homeless Children, which was heavily damaged in the Haiti earthquake.
Morrison Senior Dining, Miami, FL, working with the Miami Jewish Home, held an event to benefit the American Red Cross's efforts in Haiti.
FLIK International, Norwalk, CT, partnered with Building and Land Technology to supply pallets of water to Hope for Haiti.
Chartwells School Dining, Malden, MA, supported the fundraising efforts of Malden Catholic High School by donating breakfast for 80 people.
