Compass in the Community: Kathryn Hart named Big Sister of the Year by BBBS of Central Carolinas

Congratulations to Kathryn Hart for her recent award as Big Sister of the Year for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Central Carolinas! Her commitment to the community is remarkable and recognized in more ways than one as she was also recently appointed a seat on the board of BBBS Young Professionals.

Kathryn joined Compass Group in 2012 as an HRIS Functional Analyst shortly after her move to Charlotte, NC from Columbus, OH. Within her first few months at Compass, Kathryn spotted BBBS when they were on-site recruiting new mentors to the program. She always had an interest in joining the program, but felt it was best to hold off until she planted roots in a city where she knew she would stay for a while. While meeting with BBBS on-site that day, Kathryn was able to learn more about the program which heightened her interest even further, resulting in her officially joining BBBS. She was paired with a then 6-year-old girl, Tyler, and has remained Tyler’s “big sister” to this day.

Compass Group has been a proud supporter of the BBBS fundraising event, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, and last year Kathryn served as Captain of the Compass Group team.

Kathryn reflects on the positive experience she’s had as Tyler’s “big” as she has developed a strong relationship with both her and her family. She sees herself staying with the program for many years and is excited to take on her new duty as a board member of the BBBS Young Professionals.
