Meet Justin: Associate Spotlight Vol. V
Welcome to Associate Spotlights, a blog series from Compass Group’s Talent Management team, showcasing various associates across our family of companies.
Justin is an associate with SSC, Services for Education. He started with SSC in 2007 as an Operations Manager. After working his way through a multi-site management role and a client start-up role, he was named Director of Facilities for a college campus in 2014.
Justin and his team provide a variety of services to their client including, but not limited to, event setup, office moves, grounds maintenance, construction management, custodial services, and life safety inspections. Additionally, Justin was nominated by the President of the college (his client) to be a part of the Campus Beautification Committee, Campus Safety Committee, and Campus Operations Committee.
In the words of Seth Ferriell, President, SSC, “Justin has done a wonderful job of delivering on all aspects of his position: quality service, excellent customer relationships, and solid budget adherence. He is a well-rounded manager with a bright future in our company.”
Describe your proudest moment at Compass so far.
I was nominated for ADAPT (Advanced Leadership and Planned Transition), a Compass Group Leadership Development program. Also, seeing many client start-ups through to completion and success has made me very proud.
What is the best career advice that you have ever received?
You need to make your customers your friends. Building that trust and relationship goes a long way.
What made you smile at work today?
I love what I do. Coming to campus in the morning and seeing what my associates have accomplished makes me really happy.
What does the perfect weekend day look like for you?
A perfect weekend day would include sitting on the porch and spending time with my family, which includes my wife (my high school sweetheart) and my daughter.
Are you a dog person or a cat person?
I am a dog person. I have two rescues: a black hound lab mix and a shepherd lab mix. Both are just two years old and still tearing up the house!
