Why I’m Proud to Work Here
It’s been almost two years since I relocated from California to North Carolina to join the Compass One Healthcare family, and it has truly been the best career decision I could have made. I have dedicated my career to the human resources field, and joined Compass after working for companies in the financial services and technology sectors. I was attracted to Compass for many reasons. I was impressed with the leaders I met throughout my interview process – their experience, tenure, and demonstrated ability to grow the business. From a human resources perspective, my role provides a great opportunity to develop programs that attract, engage and develop a large employee base. I’m happy to say that the promise to do meaningful work alongside great people has been my actual experience since I joined, and is one of the reasons I am so proud to work here.
Working in contract food and support services, and specifically in healthcare, has been a wonderful learning opportunity. To be honest, I didn’t know much about the family of companies that comprise Compass Group before I joined. Or I didn’t think I knew. I’ve unknowingly interacted with Compass at some level for years. What I love about Morrison and Crothall in particular, is that for the first time in my career, I feel personally connected to the purpose of the company I work for. To be in a leadership position where I play a role in fostering an environment where we create the best patient experiences, heal through the Power of Food, and ensure a safe and infection free environment for patients and guests, is exciting and rewarding. I’ve personally been a patient in hospitals for both the most challenging of circumstances, and the most joyous. I remember feeling put at ease by a patient transporter, being happy to choose a meal that would be of most comfort to me, and the smiling faces of the housekeepers who not only cleaned my room, but expressed interest in how I was doing. To now be able to play a role in ensuring Compass One Healthcare has the best associates who are equipped to deliver these great experiences, is really gratifying.
I’m proud to work for an organization that is regularly recognized by third parties such as Modern Healthcare, Becker’s Hospital Review, and Forbes, for its excellent culture and as a best place to work, and I am humbled that our recruitment, selection, and orientation programs were recognized by Atlanta’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.
But it’s not just the recognition that makes me proud. It’s the real people and their stories that earn us this recognition, that makes me most proud to work here. There are so many examples of leaders who started on our front line and worked their way up to management roles, supported by great mentors and training along the way. Seeing the passion and compassion that is demonstrated in our units, extending into our communities in various ways, whether through donations of time, food, programs, services or money, are a great demonstration of our culture and the type of people who thrive here.
From a career standpoint, Compass provides so many opportunities for learning and development, not to mention how many career opportunities that are available. It’s truly a company where you can grow a career for many years to come. I know I plan to!
